Closure of Kaspa’s Desserts in Liverpool: the restaurant chain has closed another location

According to The Sun: The famous dessert chain with 100 locations across the UK has unexpectedly closed one of its main restaurants – this is already the second closure this year.

The restaurant, which opened more than ten years ago, has ceased operations in the center of a large city.

Bailiffs attached a notice to Kaspa’s Desserts on Crosshall Street, Liverpool

The establishment under the 'Kaspa’s' brand, which calls itself the 'King of Desserts', has closed its branch in Liverpool.

A notice from the bailiffs was attached to the restaurant door, indicating changes to the locks.

The first Kaspa’s restaurant opened in the UK in Croydon in 2012.

Since then, the company has opened more than 100 restaurants, aiming to 'spread happiness, one delicious bite at a time.'

In 2016, the chain appeared in Liverpool, actively promoting itself on social media.

One of the posts on Twitter (now X) announced:

“Update!! Our #Liverpool branch is now open! Come on down for a taste of what’s on offer!”

Kaspa’s, known for its desserts, closed on Crosshall Street in the city center on October 6, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The reasons for the closure have not been disclosed, except for a notice on the Kaspa’s website in Liverpool stating that the restaurant is currently 'temporarily closed.'

“Sad news”

Local residents are actively expressing their thoughts about this on Facebook.

One user commented:

“Novelty over. Sad but it happens.”

Another wrote:

“No more sundaes on a Sunday. Or any other day.”

This is already the second closure of a Kaspa’s restaurant in the UK this year.

Previously, the chain received a fine from the Basildon council, which tried to collect a debt from the owner for three years.

Kaspa’s desserts, recognizable for their bright purple decor, have become popular in the city.

The last establishment, located on the ground floor of the Vue cinema complex in the center of Basildon, shocked local residents with its closure.

At the time of the closure, council leader Gavin Callahan shared the news on social media, noting that the store had been in arrears on rent since 2022.

The notice on the establishment's window stated that the council had regained control over the agreement due to rent payment issues.

Kaspa’s had been extraordinarily popular in the area, so local residents are puzzled as to why rent is not being paid.

The Sun newspaper reached out to Kaspa’s for comment.

This situation is a worrying sign for the chain, which continues to face challenges. The closure of restaurants with the moniker 'King of Desserts' has raised speculation about the impact of economic challenges on the restaurant industry in the country. Therefore, the chain's next steps could be pivotal for its future in the market.
