British Gas launches a tariff with a 50% discount on electricity on Sundays.
New tariffs from the energy company
According to The Sun: The well-known energy supplier has announced the launch of new tariffs that can help homeowners significantly save on electricity. In particular, there is a 50% discount on electricity for eight hours every Sunday.
This is a great opportunity to charge electronics, watch favorite TV shows, or prepare meals for the whole week.
GettyNew and existing British Gas customers can take advantage of the newly launched PeakSave Sunday program.
Customers are provided with a smart meter, as well as the ability to receive electricity at half price from 11:00 to 16:00 on any of the tariffs.
British Gas reports that it has already paid out over £30 million to more than one million of its customers under this program.
Those already signed up for PeakSave will continue to receive electricity at half price on Sundays without the need for additional registration.
Customers who meet the criteria will also be notified via email about the opportunity to join the program.
Saved funds will be reflected as a credit on energy bills.
The Super Sunday tariff is considered the lowest fixed tariff available from British Gas, and among all major energy suppliers.
This tariff offers existing customers with smart meters additional discounts.
Benefits of using the program
Customers who have a smart meter receive an extended discount on electricity on Sundays, which is effective from 9:00 to 17:00.
This has become possible due to the increased availability of renewable energy due to favorable weather conditions.
The PeakSave program was launched to encourage customers to use energy efficiently and support ecological energy sources.
By joining the program, homeowners will receive notifications about PeakSave Green Flex events, which indicate periods when renewable energy will be actively used.
Customers will have up to a day to prepare to run a dishwasher, washing machine, or vacuum cleaner, which will operate at half price.
“By moving your electricity use to when there’s likely to be lots of renewable energy around, you’re saving money and helping the planet.”
After each event, half of the amount spent will be refunded, and the payment will appear as “PeakSave Green Flex Credit” on the next bill or online report.
The introduced tariffs and programs allow consumers to use electricity more efficiently and reduce costs. This is an important step towards popularizing renewable energy and contributes to reducing the load on the electrical networks during peak hours. Consumers who actively participate in such programs not only save money but also contribute to environmental protection.
