Domino's launches a new line of chicken dishes in the UK: menu details.
Menu changes from Domino's
According to The Sun: The famous pizzeria chain Domino’s has announced significant changes to its menu, trying to compete with KFC and Popeyes.
The company is launching a new line of chicken dishes under the brand Chick ‘N’ Dip. The new offerings will include chicken nuggets, wings and boneless pieces, as well as nine sauce options.
The Chick ‘N’ Dip line will initially be tested in 187 restaurants in the northwest of England and Northern Ireland, so Domino’s fans in other regions will have to wait for the new dishes.
The company has not yet announced the test launch date or prices for the new items.
By comparison, a chicken mini fillet at KFC costs £2.59, while a piece of original recipe chicken costs £2.79.
“It is clear that consumers are demanding more chicken dishes,” said Domino’s CEO Andrew Rennie.
He also hinted at the company’s plans to compete with leading brands such as KFC and Popeyes.
“We already have 1,400 stores in the UK and very strong distribution, so we believe we are well positioned for this,” he added.
Popeyes recently received significant investment to open 45 new restaurants in the UK. This rapidly growing American company opened 33 locations last year.
Wingstop plans to open 20 new locations in the UK this year, including in cities like Swansea, Newcastle, Lakeside, and South London. Chick-fil-A, known for its chicken sandwiches, plans to open five new restaurants in the UK over the next two years.
Domino’s has faced challenges in recent months as its stock fell to its lowest level in a decade in August. The company reported pressure from “weaker” consumer confidence, and its expansion plans have been modified due to franchisee caution after a recent increase in labor and tax costs.
What else has changed on Domino's menu?
Domino’s has also removed several popular pizza varieties. In particular, three flavors of vegan pizzas have been discontinued: Plant-Based American Hot, Plant-Based Peppy-roni, and Plant-Based Chick’n Winner. Additionally, the Ultimate Chicken Mexicana pizza has been removed.
How to save on pizza
Pizza delivery tastes great but can hit your budget hard. Here are some tips to save on pizza:
Cashback sites – TopCashback and Quidco will pay you for ordering pizza through them. They get paid by retailers for each referral from cashback sites, which ultimately brings you cashback on your order.
Discount codes – Check sites like VoucherCodes for discount codes to get a discount on your order.
Create your own toppings – An experienced customer noticed that Domino’s charges up to 70 pence more for pizzas on the menu compared to ordering the same pizza through the “create your own” option. Try it and see if it changes the cost of your order.
Buy in stores – While the taste may differ slightly, you'll save more by purchasing your favorite pizza at a local supermarket. Some Asda stores sell freshly made pizzas from the pizzeria starting at £2.
This move by Domino’s is always a significant moment in their strategy to adapt to market changes. Amid intensifying competition in the chicken dish segment, the company must find new ways to attract customers and increase sales. It will be important to monitor consumer responses to the innovations and the further development of the market situation.
