According to The Sun: The well-known railway operator has announced an instant sale: tickets can be purchased for just £2. But travelers should hurry — the promotion will last only a few days.

The Northern operator confirmed that the promotion applies to journeys throughout Northern England. Three million tickets became available online from 8:00 AM today.

Discounted tickets can be purchased on the Northern website, through the mobile app, via ticket vending machines, and at station counters.

However, passengers should be cautioned, as the sale will last only until Thursday, October 2.

Among the popular destinations with £2 tickets available are Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Blackpool North, Preston, Bradford, Hull, and Doncaster.

The list also includes stops such as Manchester Airport, Skipton, Hebden Bridge, and Wigan Wallgate.

Northern noted that a new fare-finding tool will help check routes, although it has already experienced technical issues due to high demand.

The operator emphasized that tickets are still available through their main website, mobile app, and at stations.

"We have three million tickets, so everyone can find something for themselves in the Northern promotion. For our regular customers, this is a great opportunity to visit new places, and we hope to encourage those who have not yet used train services to do so,"

— said Alex Hornby, Commercial and Customer Director of Northern.

"We believe this promotion will inspire everyone to explore all that our wonderful region has to offer, from vibrant cities to countryside and stunning coastlines. Customers should book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment — once they are gone, they are gone!"

Children's tickets will cost half the adult price; however, railcards cannot be used with this offer.

Northern also warned that strike days are excluded from the promotion, and after the sale, the discounted tickets will no longer be available.

Fare Increases

It should be noted that from March 2, the prices of railway tickets have increased across England. The Department for Transport set a cap of 4.6% on regulated fares, such as season tickets for most commuter journeys.

The rate of increase for regulated fares is determined by the operators, although they are likely to be raised by the same amount under the Department for Transport's oversight.

The governments of Scotland or Wales have not announced any price increases.

Shadow Transport Secretary Gareth Bacon noted: "One week of cheap tickets while Labour gives its unions pay rises that exceed inflation. This is a small compensatory measure for passengers who have endured 42 days of delays during Labour's tenure, or chaos during Christmas."

Discounted tickets are available through the website, mobile app, automated kiosks, and station counters. The current ticket sale at such an attractive price could be a great opportunity for travelers to explore Northern England. Sales restrictions and the anticipated fare increases in the future could prompt more people to take advantage of this offer. Northern's call for planned ticket booking also opens the potential for filling seats on trains during the busy travel period.
