Supermarkets have opened bookings for Christmas: who can order delivery now.
According to The Sun: Supermarkets have started announcing specific dates for booking deliveries for Christmas.
M&S has today opened bookings for its range of festive food, with the option to choose slots from December 22.
GettyThis service allows customers to book and pay for their Christmas dinner and snacks in advance and receive them closer to the holidays.
Christmas deliveries at Ocado are already open for customers with a “Smart Pass” from September 1, 2025. However, the online supermarket has not yet confirmed when slots will be available to all others.
Asda has also announced that from October 14, delivery pass holders will be able to book a slot for festive shopping, while all other customers will have the opening date on October 20.
The delivery pass is a paid plan that allows for multiple orders without paying for delivery each time. The fee can be monthly or annually, with delivery prices from Asda starting at £3.95 per month.
This service provides priority access to slots and next-day delivery. The minimum order amount for online orders at Asda is £40 for delivery and £25 for click and collect.
The third-largest supermarket in the UK stated that over a million slots for home delivery and click and collect will be available in the week leading up to Christmas.
Shoppers can also make changes or additions to their basket until 11 PM the night before delivery or collection.
To book a slot early, you must be a Delivery Pass customer. You can subscribe to the pass by visiting Asda's online site. You need a grocery account with Asda to subscribe to the pass, and once payment is made, it becomes available for use.
The minimum order is £40, and you can only use the service once a day. A 12-month unrestricted pass costs £6.95 per month, and for mid-week it is £3.95.
To make a one-time payment, a 12-month unrestricted pass will cost £69.50, and an average 12-month pass will cost £39.50.
Subscription benefits include next-day delivery, regular slot bookings, priority access to slots, and free next-day click and collect.
When are other supermarkets opening their bookings?
Tesco has not yet confirmed dates for this Christmas, but last year bookings were launched on November 5 for customers with annual delivery plans. These customers were able to book slots a week earlier than regular shoppers who had to wait until November 12.
Sainsbury's has not yet announced when their slots will become available, but it is expected to happen around October 23 for Delivery Pass customers.
Morrisons is finalizing plans for their slots and is likely to announce their availability soon. Last year, Delivery Pass customers could book slots from October 2, while non-pass holders could do so from October 9.
Morrisons' Delivery Pass allows for online shopping as many times as needed without having to pay for delivery each time. Customers can choose between unrestricted (seven-day) and mid-week (Tuesday-Thursday) passes.
Thus, supermarkets are actively preparing for Christmas by offering convenient booking options for deliveries. These innovations will simplify the shopping process for many consumers who want to prepare for the holidays in advance.
