Since the beginning of the war, over UAH 83.9 billion has been received into the NBU special account: who and how much has been transferred.
According to inkorr.com: As of September 1, 2025, the balance on the special account opened by the National Bank of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, exceeded 5 billion hryvnias. Over the past month, more than UAH 204.5 million was received into this account.
Data on Receipts
According to the NBU press service, since the onset of the full-scale invasion, more than UAH 83.9 billion has been received to the special account in equivalent.
The National Bank noted that funds were received not only from citizens and businesses of Ukraine, but also from international donors, including from the USA, the UK, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, France, Canada, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, and other countries.
Among international receipts in foreign currency (US dollars, euros, pounds sterling, Canadian dollars, renminbi, yen, Swiss francs, zlotys, and Australian dollars), about UAH 62.5 billion was received in equivalent.
Defense Expenditures
Since the beginning of the war, the National Bank has transferred nearly UAH 78.8 billion for defense purposes, of which about UAH 9.8 billion was spent in August 2025. The funds were used for:
- the needs of the National Guard of Ukraine – over UAH 1,649 million;
- the needs of the National Police of Ukraine – UAH 1,650 million;
- the needs of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine – over UAH 39,332 million;
- the needs of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine – UAH 999.5 million;
- the needs of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine – over UAH 8,200 million;
- the needs of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine – over UAH 156.2 million;
- the needs of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine – nearly UAH 100.9 million;
- the needs of the State Special Transport Service – over UAH 233 million;
- the needs of the Security Service of Ukraine – nearly UAH 663.6 million;
- the needs of military units – over UAH 286.9 million;
- the needs of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine – over UAH 1,404 million;
- the needs of the Defense Procurement Agency – over UAH 23,586 million;
- the needs of the defense work of regional military administrations – over UAH 502.5 million.
Thus, a significant amount is currently held in the NBU special account, which is further being used for the needs of the country's defense. Recent data confirms the active support both from Ukrainian citizens and businesses, as well as international partners. The continuation of such receipts is an important factor for ensuring resistance to Ukraine in times of war.
