EU Loan of €90 Billion for Ukraine Announced by Macron.
EU Loan for Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: During a press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy on March 13, Emmanuel Macron announced a €90 billion loan from the European Union to Ukraine. The event highlighted the critical need for financial support amid ongoing challenges. This pledge follows a December 2022 agreement, marking a significant milestone in Ukraine-EU cooperation.
However, the loan's final approval requires unanimous consent from all 27 EU member states—a process that remains crucial for delivering the aid. The European Parliament showed strong backing, with 458 MEPs voting in favor of the loan, reflecting broad European solidarity.
Macron underscored his firm commitment to fulfilling this promise, stating:
'This commitment will be honored, and I say so here with determination and clarity.' Emmanuel Macron
The loan is expected to provide vital support for Ukraine's development and reconstruction efforts. It underscores the EU's dedication to stabilizing Ukraine's economy and aiding its recovery from widespread destruction, though unanimous member-state approval remains essential for the funds to be released.
