Macron and Zelensky Hold Talks Ahead of G7 Summit
According to Espreso.tv: On the eve of the main G7 summit session in Évian, French President Emmanuel Macron sat down for a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Their discussions centered on continued support for Ukraine and the potential for Zelensky to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Macron extended an invitation for Zelensky to take part in G7 events, a clear show of backing from the French leader. Zelensky, for his part, described June 14 as a packed day of international diplomacy. That same day, he placed a call to Donald Trump to wish him a happy birthday. Notably, the two had previously spoken for the first time at the funeral of Pope Francis.
Diplomatic Support for Ukraine
Also on June 14, Trump held a phone conversation with Vladimir Putin. Amid the flurry of high-level discussions, it emerged that Zelensky and Trump have agreed to meet on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France. This encounter could mark a significant step forward in U.S.-Ukraine relations.
“The meeting between Macron and Zelensky underscores France’s active diplomatic backing for Ukraine,” an expert noted.
The anticipated Zelensky-Trump meeting at the G7 could open new avenues for cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in both military and economic spheres—key factors for regional stability.
