According to The Sun: Early this morning, a man was arrested during a raid by Greater Manchester police on suspicion of fixing bets.
The 42-year-old detainee was arrested as part of a joint investigation by police and the Gaming Commission.
PA:Press AssociationThe arrest took place in the Hawksmoor area of Bury at 6 am on Friday. He is suspected of committing offenses under Section 42 of the Gambling Act 2005.
The investigation was launched after information about suspicious betting activity related to several races at the beginning of the year was received.
A BHA spokesperson declined to comment on the situation, stating:
“BHA does not comment on investigations or speculations related to them”.
Greater Manchester police also refrained from commenting.
According to Section 42 of the Gambling Act, cheating in gambling or actions that allow another person to cheat in gambling is considered an offense.
If found guilty, an individual could face a prison sentence of up to two years and a fine.
This case underscores the seriousness of the issue of betting manipulation in the gambling world.
