Manchester United signs Royal Antwerp goalkeeper: transfer details.
According to The Sun:
MANCHESTER UNITED are closing in on a deal to sign Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Personal terms have almost been agreed with the Belgian keeper while the clubs continue to discuss a fee, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Senne Lammens currently plays for Royal Antwerp in his native Belgium.
It’s understood Antwerp will demand around £17million.
United have been linked with Lammens since December.
The 23-year-old stopper has made almost 65 appearances for Antwerp.
He is also a Belgian youth international, and was called up to the senior team for two matches in March, remaining an unused substitute in both.
United have been extensively linked with new goalkeepers throughout this window.
Andre Onana missed the Red Devils’ season opener against Arsenal as he returns from a spell on the sidelines through injury.
But boss Ruben Amorim is far from sold on the Cameroonian.
Onana, 29, is determined to stay and fight for his place between the sticks at Old Trafford despite Amorim’s efforts to replace him earlier in the window.
But the writing could now be on the wall if United get their man.
Backup Altay Bayindir took his Onana’s against the Gunners and committed a howler when he punched an incoming corner delivery towards his own net.
Moments that emphasize the need for a new goalkeeper
And Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori was in the right place to nod the ball over the line at the back post.
The moment reiterated the importance of signing a goalkeeper in the late stages of the window.
Club legend and pundit Gary Neville commented that finding a replacement in the position was imperative for the north-west giants.
One option Neville was Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, who also remains a target for rivals Manchester City.
Reports that Manchester United are close to finalizing a deal to sign goalkeeper Lammens adds new hope for the team's fans. If the signing is successful, it could solve the goalkeeper line issue that became apparent after deficiencies in the setup during the game against Arsenal.
