Manchester United introduces paid seat licenses: What does this mean for the fans?.
Manchester United plans to take the transition to a new level
According to The Sun: Manchester United intends to become the first English club to introduce seat licenses in the new stadium worth 2 billion pounds.
If the club returns to Europe by the planned opening of the stadium in 2030, it could also become the first European club to offer such licenses.
APPersonal seat licenses (PSLs) are not the same as season tickets and are quite popular in the United States.
Such a license allows fans to purchase a specific seat for a specific period and is often used in American sports to partially finance stadium construction.
Under the PSL program, a fan who purchases a license must also pay for a season ticket but can sell the license to another person if they decide not to continue their subscription.
The licenses will be voluntary and geared towards premium seating.
Regular season tickets can continue to be purchased annually, with the ability to apply for away games and cup matches.
The club sent out a survey on Thursday night to fans who attend games to assess the demand for licenses and other issues.
United hopes this confirms the economic feasibility of financing and building a new 100,000-seat stadium, something like 'Wembley in the North.
United told SunSport: “We will also test the demand at much lower prices, including some that are below current levels.”

The club awaits the results of consultations with fans to determine the prices for the licenses.
A new survey sent to members, season ticket holders, and club board members will be the largest survey of fans conducted as part of the project to date.
The survey will also query fans' preferences regarding prices and transport to games as United seeks to assess the economic viability of constructing a new stadium.
The owners plan to build and finance the stadium themselves but hope the UK government will be a partner in enhancing transport links, housing, and leisure facilities around the Trafford area.
United conducted a survey among fans last year regarding the new stadium and found that 52% of the 50,000 respondents support the idea of a new build.
At the same time, 31% favor the renovation of the existing Old Trafford stadium, while the rest were undecided.
United explained that they are 'committed to making football accessible and atmospheric for fans and preserving the game culture for future generations.'
