Liverpool in talks with Crystal Palace over Mark Guehi transfer: deal details.
Negotiations for Mark Guehi's transfer
According to The Sun: Mark Guehi has been given the green light for a medical in London ahead of a potential move to Liverpool.
The clubs continue to discuss a £35 million deal for the Crystal Palace captain, whose contract expires in a year.
GettyGuehi, who is 25, has made it clear that he does not plan to sign a new contract, and club chairman Steve Parish is keen to resolve this issue this summer to avoid potential losses.
Crystal Palace coach's requirements
Meanwhile, coach Oliver Glasner emphasized that selling the star defender is undesirable, especially following his impressive goal against Aston Villa.
This deal could lead to new difficulties for the coach, who has already complained about the club's 'passive' approach during the summer transfer window.
After the Eagles' 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday, where Guehi scored, Glasner noted: “I told the club chairman that we need to keep Mark if we want to have a successful season.
“We have no chance of finding a suitable replacement in one day. We all agreed that we would only sell Mark if we had an adequate replacement in the club.
“We wanted to find a replacement by July 1. Today is August 31, and we do not have a replacement.
“We have this deal, so I understand everything. He is an extremely important player.
“He is one of our key players – he is our captain.”
Crystal Palace rejected a £65 million bid from Newcastle last year.
The transfer of this England international comes just weeks after the sale of another star player from the 'Three Lions', Eberechi Eze, who moved to Arsenal for £67.5 million last week.
