Marta Kostyuk wins at the US Open: the Ukrainian is the only one to reach the second round.
According to inkorr.com: Marta Kostyuk celebrated a victory in the first round of the US Open, defeating British tennis player Katie Boulter. After breaking in the third game, the Ukrainian won the first set with a score of 6:4, and then repeated her success in the second, finishing it again with a score of 6:4.
In the third game, Kostyuk made a break and won the first set with a score of 6:4. The second set was tense, but the Ukrainian again secured victory with the same score of 6:4.
The match lasted 1 hour and 38 minutes.
US Open 2025. First Round
Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine, No. 27) defeated Katie Boulter (Great Britain) with a score of 6:4, 6:4. The next opponent for the Ukrainian will be Turkish tennis player Zeynep Sonmez.
Unfortunately, other representatives of Ukraine — Dayana Yastremska, Yulia Starodubtseva, and Elina Svitolina — finished their participation in the tournament in the first round. This was Svitolina's first defeat in such competitions in the last seven years.
First Round of the US Open
Dayana Yastremska also lost in her opening match, losing to Russian player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with a score of 6:7, 7:6, 6:4. Yulia Starodubtseva lost to Russian Anna Blinkova.
Now Marta Kostyuk is the only Ukrainian hope at the US Open and is preparing for her next match against Zeynep Sonmez.
