According to inkorr.com: In 2023, future doctors were assigned budget places for internship for the first time thanks to the electronic ranking distribution system (ERDS) developed on the Diia.Engine platform, as reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

From August 1, interns began practicing in medical institutions across the country, and the theoretical part of training in higher education institutions started on September 1.

'The electronic ranking distribution system automatically calculated the competitive score and rating of graduates taking into account their academic results and personal preferences. Graduates with a higher ranking had a broader choice, each could submit up to five applications for desired places,' the Ministry of Digital Transformation explained.

ERDS functions based on the Diia.Engine platform, which is a low-code solution for the rapid creation of public registers and digital services. Thanks to standardized components, ministries can easily create and improve digital services without the need for innovative development.

Distribution of budget places for interns

During the main distribution, 2,738 graduates received budget places, while another 60 were placed in the final queue. The largest number of budgetary interns will study in the following specialties: dentistry - 959, pharmacy - 793, internal diseases - 657, anesthesiology and intensive care - 375.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation reported that the largest number of interns was directed to medical institutions in Kyiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Odesa, and Sumy regions. Among the leading medical universities are Lviv National University, National University of Pharmacy of Ukraine named after Shupyk, Ternopil National Medical University, Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, and Odesa National Medical University.

This year, for the first time in Ukraine, an electronic ranking distribution system was used for the distribution of budget places in the internship. This simplified and expedited the process, allowing graduates with high scores to have more opportunities in choosing their desired internship places.

The application of electronic technologies in the assignment of places in medical institutions opens new horizons for Ukrainian medicine. The electronic system not only ensured the transparency of the process but also created competition based on merit, which will undoubtedly affect the quality of education and the future training of doctors in Ukraine.
