Michael Conlan, hailing from Belfast, has a professional record of 19-3-0 and has defeated three of his last five opponents.
He has fought for a world title twice: once in Nottingham and once in Belfast, but lost both bouts. After that, Conlan considered retiring from boxing.
The experienced boxer confirmed in August that a loss would be a death sentence for him:
“This is the last time, the last chance. Next time, if I lose, I'm calling it a day.”
In his last fight on March 7, 2025, the 33-year-old Conlan won against Asad Asif Khan by unanimous decision after a 15-month break.
After this victory, he announced that his next opponent would be the Spaniard Cristobal Lorente, with whom they were supposed to meet for the European title in the featherweight category.
However, this fight did not happen as Lorente fought another Spaniard, Ruben Gill.
Instead, Conlan will face former British champion in the super bantamweight division, Jack Bateson.
The 31-year-old boxer from Yorkshire has a record of 20-1-1. His only loss occurred in November 2022, when he lost to Shabaz Masud by technical knockout in the 12th round.
After that, Bateson has won four fights in a row, and in his last match in December 2024, he scored a technical draw against Danny Quartmaine.
Conlan is the favorite in this fight with odds of 2/5 (-250), while Bateson is the underdog with odds of 41/20 (+200).
