Michael Owen on Kane's move to Bayern: It would be madness.
Michael Owen on Harry Kane's move to Bayern
According to The Sun: Michael Owen expressed his dissatisfaction regarding Harry Kane's decision to move to Bundesliga champions Bayern two years ago.
Owen, who became a Ballon d'Or winner, was one of those who questioned Kane's choice, as at that time there were rumors about his desire to achieve success and win trophies.
GettyOwen also noted that Kane took his children out of school to move to Germany, which further increased his dissatisfaction. He shared these thoughts during the latest episode of the podcast 'Rio Ferdinand Presents'.
“I disagree with his decision to move to Germany, I have openly said this, and I still think it's foolish.”
“You are on the verge of becoming the Premier League's all-time top scorer, you have children who are already in school. I just couldn’t understand it.”
During his career in the Premier League, Kane scored 213 goals in 310 appearances, most of which he made for Tottenham Hotspur.
The record for the most goals in the league still belongs to Alan Shearer — 260 goals.
Kane has scored 65 goals in the Bundesliga since moving to Bayern. This scoring rate would have opened the way for him to first place if he had stayed in England and continued to play with the same effectiveness.
“If you move to Celtic and win the league, does it really speak to your greatness?”
“They win every year, there’s not much achievement in that.”
Kane won the Bundesliga in his second attempt, although he previously failed to win this title when his team lost in the race to Xabi Alonso and Bayer.
However, critics like Owen doubt that this achievement has great significance considering that Bayern has become champions in 12 of the last 13 Bundesliga seasons.
Amid Kane's successes and the shaping of his career abroad, it is hard to imagine that he greatly regrets his decision at this moment. Some fans believe he is still planning a return to England to challenge the Premier League's all-time scoring record.
