Van Gerwen could miss the Players Championship Finals: Dart player risks due to vacation.
Michael van Gerwen is on the verge of missing an important tournament due to vacation
According to The Sun: Michael van Gerwen risks missing his first major tournament as his vacation clashes with the competition schedule.
This year, the darts star is not impressing with his form after losing in the World Championship final.
AlamyThis week, Michael also couldn’t stand out at the Grand Prix, where he was eliminated by Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Now there is a risk that he will miss the Players Championship Finals, which he has attended since its inception in 2009.
But the situation is getting more complicated: he is currently outside the top-64 in the ranking, after missing several opportunities that have reduced his chances. There are only four tournaments left until the qualification ends.
Specifically, he will miss two of those competitions as he is planning a vacation in Dubai.
Van Gerwen noted in comments on the podcast Darts Draait Door: 'I will be on vacation in Dubai during the last two.'
'So it has to happen in these two tournaments after the Grand Prix. One way or another, I need to win one.'
The 38-year-old player is ranked 92nd, with his prize money only at £14,500.
A win next week secures a prize money of £15,000, and the finalist will receive £10,000.
Van Gerwen needs to earn an additional £8,000 to put himself in a qualifying position.

Vacation may be necessary for recovery, but any missed opportunity in such a competitive environment can have significant impacts on career prospects. Will he succeed in finding time for both – we shall see in the near future.
