The world number three, 36-year-old Dutchman, defeated Luke Littler 11-7 in the World Series final in Amsterdam.

Van Gerwen received £80,000 for the victory and said:
“We all know what difficulties I have gone through in the last few months. But performing in front of my home crowd means a lot to me.”
The darts player also added:
“I have not gone anywhere. I had to work really hard to achieve this. It means everything to me.”
In the rematch at the World Championship in January, van Gerwen capitalized on Littler’s errors to win five of the last six legs.
Littler, despite the spectators’ boos, did not give in and responded to the pressure before the Dutchman took control of the game.
Littler, who earned £40,000, commented:
“I told Michael that he played one of the best games of his career. He has gone through tough times, but seeing him return is great.”
