Microsoft allowed OpenAI to use competitors' cloud services.
Microsoft and OpenAI announced the continuation of their strategic partnership within the Stargate project. The plans involve the construction of data centers for artificial intelligence with investments amounting to $500 billion. Open access to cloud services allows the ChatGPT creator to utilize competitors' services.
The main terms of cooperation remain unchanged. Microsoft has the right to use OpenAI's intellectual property in its products, such as Copilot. In turn, OpenAI will continue to use the Azure platform for its API services.
Financial relations between the companies are also subject to changes. Microsoft remains the main investor in OpenAI, providing funding and support for technology development. The revenue-sharing agreement also remains in effect.
The changes concern OpenAI's requirements for the use of Microsoft's cloud services. Now ChatGPT can turn to competitors for additional resources. At the same Time, Microsoft retains its right to refuse to purchase new OpenAI products as a primary buyer.
OpenAI will have the opportunity to strengthen its resources and enhance the research and training capabilities of its language models.
