Migration wave and labor market disaster: Ukrainians saddened by the forecast.
Pessimistic forecast for Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: The Migration Policy Office has spread a pessimistic forecast regarding Ukraine's future, noting that the country's recovery after the war will prove unprofitable for many.
Mass emigration of the population
Experts believe that in the next two years, about 400 thousand Ukrainians may leave the country, with most of them not planning to return. This could lead to a new wave of labor emigration, which could involve up to 2 million people.
The head of the Migration Policy Office, Vasyl Voskoboinyk, emphasized that 'We will find ourselves in a situation where the West will invest in Ukraine: money will come to us for infrastructure projects, for the restoration of enterprises, but the question is – who will physically work? Because we are reducing the number of labor hands.'
Consequences for the labor market and the economy
A decrease in population may significantly exacerbate problems in the labor market, complicate economic recovery, and provoke inflation due to a lack of labor. The policies of European countries aimed at attracting Ukrainian workers may further worsen the staffing situation in Ukraine and negatively impact the domestic consumer market.
The role of Ukrainian migrants
Ukrainian labor migrants play an important role in the economies of the host countries, actively participating in labor processes and paying taxes. However, the mass outflow of youth abroad for education may deal serious blows to Ukraine's staffing and intellectual potential.
According to the Migration Policy Office, emigration of Ukrainians in the next two years may significantly complicate economic problems and the recovery of the country after the war. At the same time, involvement of Ukrainians in international labor processes may stimulate economic growth but will also lead to workforce shortages and loss of skilled personnel in Ukraine.
