Unknown to millions of Ukrainians: how to get a refund for purchases in the EU.
Many tourists are losing the opportunity to get their money back
Millions of travelers may not receive their funds after returning home. A survey by the trade association Abta showed that 51% of people do not know they have the right to reclaim VAT on purchases made in the EU.According to The Sun: The situation looks somewhat better among the youth: 69% of individuals aged 18 to 24 are aware of the possibility of refunds. This indicates the need for an information campaign that would cover all age groups.
“Many people simply do not know about their rights to tax refunds,” said a representative of the association.
Tourists who purchased goods in EU countries can take advantage of the opportunity to save, but only if they familiarize themselves with the refund conditions in time.
This issue becomes even more relevant in light of the increasing tourist flows to Europe. Information about VAT refund opportunities can significantly reduce travelers' expenses, so it is important for tourists to be informed about these conditions before their trip. Given this, we hope for new communication campaigns that will help raise awareness of this opportunity among all travelers.
