Ukraine Reopens Access to Key Business Registry for Companies.
Key Business Registry Access Restored
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, has restored full access to the Unified State Register (EDR). Access to this critical database of company information had been restricted since the onset of the full-scale invasion in 2022. Businesses can now retrieve corporate data through the Open Data Portal, a move that enhances transparency and data accessibility for entrepreneurs. This reopening is a significant step in supporting the business environment during wartime, signaling Ukraine's commitment to maintaining European-style governance and transparency standards even under conflict.
Open data is a vital anti-corruption tool in Ukraine, ensuring public oversight of corporate activities. The restoration of the EDR provides essential, up-to-date information that businesses need to operate effectively amid economic uncertainty. This development underscores the government's obligation to uphold accountability and could help rebuild trust among businesses and investors in the Ukrainian economy by gradually restoring its open data infrastructure.
Access to Current Information is Critical
The renewed operation of the EDR ensures entrepreneurs have the necessary data for informed decision-making and business development. This access is particularly crucial as Ukraine implements new tax rates for individual entrepreneurs (FOPs), effective from January 1, 2026, which requires businesses to have current regulatory information. For context, maintaining transparent business registries is a key requirement for Ukraine's European integration and post-war economic recovery efforts.
