The Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius advocates for the abolition of tax benefits for any types of businesses and administrative units, including free economic zones and industrial parks. He stated this at the presentation of the economic strategy of Ukraine in Kyiv, as reported by UNIAN.
'We believe that there should be no tax benefits for anyone. The time for preferences, privileges, and so on has already passed. Until recently, we had preferences for the import of energy-saving equipment. Through this loophole, everything but energy-saving equipment was imported,' Abromavicius said.
According to the minister, the same approaches regarding the absence of tax benefits should apply not only to certain types of business but also to free economic zones and industrial parks. It should be noted that it was previously reported that the moratorium on business inspections in Ukraine has been extended until the end of 2016.
Two-thirds of Ukrainian enterprises do not pay taxes
The allowance for tax benefits for businesses in Ukraine has always been a controversial issue. Minister Abromavicius believes that abolishing benefits will be a step towards greater transparency and equality in taxation. This decision could have far-reaching consequences for the Ukrainian economy and the country's financial system.Read also
