Ministry of Defense transitions to NATO standards: how this will change the quality of armaments.
According to inkorr.com: The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has implemented a new model of cooperation with defense product manufacturers, focusing on international NATO and EU standards. Instead of strict quality control, quality management is now established at all stages of production. This involves creating an audit and certification system, as well as integrating into international quality assurance systems. The foundation consists of ISO standards, risk management principles, and personal responsibility of manufacturers for product quality.
'This is expected to stimulate enterprises to implement modern quality management systems and continually improve production processes,' the Ministry of Defense explained.
Formation of a National Quality System
The agency noted that a national quality assurance system has already been created. It encompasses a specialized division of the Ministry of Defense, a regulatory framework, and an information and communication system. Mechanisms for mutual recognition with NATO countries and other partners are also planned to be established.
'Audits of quality management systems of enterprises, monitoring of production processes, and inspection of individual production stages are conducted in the territorial divisions of the Ministry of Defense. They will be responsible for supporting government contracts and specific projects,' the agency reported.
Tasks of Territorial Divisions
The territorial divisions of the Ministry of Defense are tasked with ensuring the quality of high-tech weapons and military equipment.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is transitioning to international standards of quality assurance for defense products aimed at improving production and quality management. The new model aims at enhancing management processes and introducing modern approaches in this field.
These changes will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of Ukrainian manufacturers in the international defense product market. The introduction of new standards and simplification of management processes will help not only improve quality but also accelerate production, which is critically important in the context of ongoing security challenges.
