The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine reports achievements in cooperation with the UN to assist vulnerable populations during the war.

Minister Oksana Zholnovych met with the UN System Coordinator in Ukraine, Matthias Schmale, to discuss further steps of collaboration.

Thanks to the support of UN agencies, the following important initiatives have been implemented:

  1. 420 thousand pensioners in combat zones received additional financial assistance totaling over 2 billion hryvnias.
  2. More than 320 thousand people with disabilities received assistance amounting to over 830 million hryvnias.
  3. UNHCR provided payments for solid fuel in winter and plans to continue this support in the season.
  4. UNICEF allocated over 460 million UAH to support low-income large families and families with disabled children in the eastern regions of Ukraine.

Minister Zholnovych emphasized the priority of creating an effective social protection system and developing a strategy for social services development. Matthias Schmale confirmed the UN's intention to continue active support for Ukraine in the social sphere.

Collaboration covers a wide range of UN agencies, including UNDP, UNICEF, WFP, UNHCR, WHO and others, focusing on humanitarian programs and development programs for the most vulnerable groups.

Also, let us recall: the UN fund warned of fraud on behalf of the organization regarding financial aid payments.

It also became known why Russia convened the UN Security Council regarding the "Nord Streams".
