Property owners before 2013 registration deadline: what to do before 2025.
The necessity of property registration in Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: Property owners in Ukraine who acquired ownership rights before 2013 are required to independently register their property in the new State Register of Rights. Data from the old register was not automatically transferred to the new system.
According to the Ministry of Justice, registration must be completed by October 4, 2025. Since January 1, 2013, a new electronic State Register of Rights to Real Estate has been operational in Ukraine, replacing the old system and paper documents. However, owners must carry out the registration themselves, as data about their property was not transferred automatically.
'If the property is located in certain regions or cities, one can contact any state registrar or notary in Ukraine,' the Ministry of Justice explained.
For registration, owners must provide documents proving their ownership, such as certificates, sales contracts, inheritance certificates, or other relevant documents. Additionally, in some regions, it is possible to use the electronic portal 'Diia', which simplifies the registration process.
Thus, property owners who acquired their property before 2013 must undergo an important registration procedure in the new State Register of Rights. They must manage to submit their information by October 4, 2025, and provide documents confirming their ownership rights.
Currently, it is important for property owners not to delay the changes, as proper registration will help avoid legal difficulties in the future. The simplified opportunities through the electronic portal 'Diia' can be a significant advantage for those who wish to promptly deal with bureaucratic formalities.
