Customs warns: what amounts of cash can be taken abroad

According to inkorr.com: The State Customs Service of Ukraine has reminded about the restrictions on taking cash out of the country, which may lead to confiscation of funds and imposition of fines.

According to current legislation, Ukrainians can leave with up to 10,000 euros in equivalent without filling out a customs declaration, regardless of the currency. If the amount exceeds this limit, it must be declared and explained where this money comes from.

An important nuance: the limit of 10,000 euros includes not only cash but also jewelry and securities, which customs officials assess at the border based on the current exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine.

For transporting amounts that exceed the limit, one should use the red corridor. This route is intended for those who have valuables that require special permission and has no maximum limit for taking out.

The red corridor also applies to all valuable securities and foreign currency assets worth over 10,000 euros.

Currency market and forecasts

The currency market of Ukraine remains vulnerable to external factors; however, analysts do not predict sharp changes in exchange rates.

According to experts, the stability of the hryvnia will be supported by a managed flexibility regime, and the National Bank of Ukraine is doing its utmost to avoid sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate, thanks to low inflation and stable interest rates.

In the long run, the euro may become the main currency due to growing economic ties with the European Union and an increase in the share of euros in international aid and reserve funds.

The restrictions on taking cash abroad apply to Ukrainians planning to take large sums of money or other valuables with them. At the same time, stability of the hryvnia is expected in the currency market due to the measures of the National Bank and positive economic trends.
