The accused murderer of Charlie Kirk calmly refuels his car

According to The Sun: Shocking moment: The suspect in the murder case of Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson, refuels nonchalantly at a gas station just a day after the shootout. This drew significant public attention.

The video shows 22-year-old Robinson carelessly pumping gas into his car at a gas station in Utah, appearing completely unperturbed after the horrific event that occurred the day before.

Police Handout

Robinson is accused of murdering the conservative commentator on September 10 while Kirk was speaking to students at the University of Utah in Orem.

The video shows Robinson wearing a red t-shirt and a Dodge Charger cap as he refuels his car. He calmly pulls out the pump, fills up the car, and walks back to the pump before driving away, regardless of the shootout.

For the prosecutors, this video became crucial evidence: An anonymous tipster informed the police in Cedar City after seeing Robinson at the gas station shortly after the robbery.

Trial and Charges

At the last hearing on Monday, Robinson's lawyers requested more time as prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty in connection with this horrific crime. The hearing took place in Provo, just a few miles from the university where the robbery occurred.

Robinson, who had previously appeared in a tuxedo at earlier hearings, did not show his face at this hearing. When asked if he was present at the hearing, he responded:

“Yes, Your Honor.”

Robinson was arrested about a day and a half after the shootout, and prosecutors claim that he turned himself in after confessing to his family.

The governor of Utah referred to the murder of Kirk as a 'political crime' and promised that the suspect would be held accountable.

Investigators reported that Robinson had sent messages indicating his motivation for the crime. In a note, he wrote that he would commit 'a terrible act' because he was 'tired of being unloved by Kirk.'

The Widow's Reconciliation

Charlie Kirk gained numerous supporters and critics with his outspoken views on gender, marriage, and religion. He became well-known through his nonprofit organization Turning Point USA, which organizes events on college campuses.

Kirk's death sparked a wave of concern over the rise of political violence in the USA. At his memorial service, his wife, Erika, tearfully admitted that she had forgiven her husband's murderer:

“I forgive him, for that is what Christ did. And that is what Charlie would have done,”

she said in front of a crowd of nearly 100,000 people who had come to honor the activist.

When asked about the death penalty, Erika explained that she did not have the 'eye for an eye' mentality.

“I want the government to decide that,”
she said The New York Times.
“I do not want this person on my conscience.”
