The Ministry of Culture will keep a quarter of teachers reserved in schools: details of the decision.
According to inkorr.com: The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine reported that about 25% of teachers working in schools with reservations will remain in their positions. Deputy Minister Nadiya Kuzmicheva noted that this step will partially address the shortage of personnel in the fields of information technology and natural sciences.
'However, this plan may change. After the end of martial law, most young teachers may leave the education system as they are attracted not by the teaching profession itself but by the possibility of job reservation'
Uneven distribution of teachers
Kuzmicheva also stated that there is an uneven distribution of teachers between cities and villages. The government believes that the reservation system will help partially solve this problem. She emphasizes the need to implement new approaches to retain teachers in the profession, such as short training courses for specialists from other fields who can quickly adapt to teaching. This initiative is being discussed among the public within the framework of new conceptual foundations for teacher professional development developed by the Ministry of Education and Science.
Planning for the future
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine intends to keep 25% of teachers in schools with reservations to ensure the national education system is staffed with qualified professionals and to retain more experienced personnel. At the same time, they recognize that new ways must be found to attract young professionals to the teaching field.
Thus, the Ministry's efforts are aimed at supporting the education system under the challenges associated with the war. Ensuring staff stability in schools could be an important step in the development of education in Ukraine, considering modern trends and market needs. Collaboration with the public and new approaches could help improve the situation in education in the coming years.
