Carrot prices have skyrocketed by 24%: what's happening in the market.
Carrot prices in Ukraine continue to rise
According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, there is a significant increase in carrot prices, which is becoming a serious problem for consumers. According to analysts from the EastFruit project, the price of quality root vegetables in the largest production regions currently fluctuates between 8 to 15 UAH per kilogram. This is 24% more than last week.
Experts cite seasonal supply shortages as the main factor behind the price increase. Most farmers have already sold their mid-season carrot varieties, while the harvest of late varieties has not yet begun. This pause in supply has put significant pressure on prices.
Market representatives note that carrot prices are still about 35% lower compared to the same period last year. However, producers do not rule out the possibility of further increases if sales continue at the same pace.
Thus, the sharp rise in carrot prices in Ukraine is caused by seasonal supply shortages, leading to an increase in the cost of this product. If the supply situation does not change, prices may continue to rise, complicating purchases for many consumers.
The rise in carrot prices underscores the relevance of food security issues in Ukraine, as consumers face difficulties accessing essential products. If farmers cannot find ways to increase supply volumes, the situation may worsen, requiring attention from the government and agricultural associations.
