IPC allows Russians to participate in the Paralympic Games: what is happening.
According to inkorr.com: The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has expressed its position regarding the participation of Russian athletes in competitions held under its patronage.
In response to a question from 'Glavkom' about the ban for Russians who participated in the conflict in eastern Ukraine, the IPC replied as follows:
- Is there a ban on participation in competitions organized by the IPC for Russians who were participants in the illegal war against Ukraine?
- Do they have the same rights as all other athletes?
“Since the NPC (National Paralympic Committee – 'Glavkom') of Russia is a full member, they can enter their athletes into IPC competitions,” explained IPC Director of Public Relations Craig Spence.
Decision on Russian and Belarusian athletes
After the voting of the delegates, Russians and Belarusians received the right to participate in tournaments under the IPC's patronage with their symbols. Part of the consideration of the ban was rejected, allowing these athletes to continue competing on the international stage.
This decision opens new opportunities for athletes from Russia and Belarus in the world of sports and has been positively received by sports communities.
The participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions remains a relevant topic of discussion among sports organizations. This decision may have far-reaching consequences for the development of Paralympic sports, as it raises questions about the equality of athletes' rights during international competitions.
