77-year-old coach survives after a drone strike on his house: a story of resilience

According to ТСН: On the evening of November 23, a Russian drone destroyed the private home of 77-year-old Volodymyr Kravtsov in Kharkiv. The lonely pensioner miraculously survived, being only three meters away from the explosion. Volodymyr, who once worked as a football coach, remains optimistic despite losing his home.

Attack during a conversation

Mr. Volodymyr recalls that on the day of the incident, two strikes were heard first. Then a neighbor peeked in and informed him that the Russians had destroyed two houses.

"We talked for a few minutes, and then the neighbor left. And two minutes later, there was another strike. If he had stayed for those two minutes, we would have died together here. We narrowly escaped death by two minutes,"
- Volodymyr Kravtsov recounts. During the second strike, he was sitting on his bed, and sturdy beams and bricks saved him, although shards of glass still injured his hands.

Struggle for the beloved home

The house that was destroyed was a family inheritance of Volodymyr’s. His grandfather, father, and he grew up there. The fire could not be extinguished due to continuous attacks from Russian drones, forcing firefighters to hide. The city authorities provided Volodymyr with a room in a dormitory, but despite his age, he does not give up: he returns to the ruins every day and, like a former coach used to falls and victories, searches for surviving items and plans to rebuild. He has already found a jacket and shoes. Volodymyr calls on concerned citizens to help restore his beloved home.

Details for assistance

Volunteers have organized a fundraiser to restore Volodymyr Kravtsov's home. Part of the amount has already been raised. Card number: 4874 1000 2047 8486.

It has also become known that Russian propagandists arrived in Pokrovsk and began filming stories in the central and southern parts of the city, showcasing a demonstrative "gratitude" to the occupiers. Russian troops continue their assault in the Huliaipole direction, trying to bypass the city from the eastern and northern flanks.

This situation once again highlights the tragic consequences of war for the civilian population. Despite the difficulties, the optimism and desire to rebuild his life, demonstrated by Volodymyr Kravtsov, inspires others. All concerned can join in supporting the pensioner to help him return to a normal life.
