Check of gas stations in Ukraine: at which stations a record shortfall was revealed

According to inkorr.com: Experts from the Consumer Expertise Institute conducted a new check of gas stations (GS), to find out whether drivers actually receive the amount of fuel they pay for. Last year, most of the checked stations shorted fuel. Has the situation improved this year? Detailed results were published by TSN.

Inspection Results

The check covered 16 different networks, among which were premium brands AMIC, OKKO, UPG, KLO, and PARALLEL, as well as discounters AVANTAGE 7, MARSHALL, BVS, BRSM-NAFTA, OVIS, EURO 5, and several standalone stations. The results were surprising again: shortfall was detected in 9 out of 16 cases, with some networks exceeding the norm by ten times.

Classification of Gas Stations

Experts divided the gas stations into two categories:

In the green zone:

  • AMIC and PARALLEL - no shortfall;
  • KLO - 0.05% (3 kop/l);
  • AVANTAGE 7 - 0.10% (5 kop/l);
  • OKKO and MARSHALL - within the norm.

In the red zone:

This category includes BVS, BRSM-NAFTA, OVIS (Kharkiv), EURO 5 (Zaporizhia), and other small local GS. The record holder was EURO 5 with a shortfall of 5% or 2.37 UAH per liter. In second place was OVIS (-1.32 UAH/l), followed by BRSM-NAFTA (-1.23 UAH/l).

Experts' Commentary

Director of the Institute Yuri Chernobryvets noted that experts hoped for better results:

“Some large networks continue to systematically short fuel to maintain lower prices. And as long as there is no punishment from regulatory authorities, the situation will not change.”

The findings of the research show that the problem of fuel shortfall remains relevant. Drivers should be cautious when choosing GS, as some do not comply with the standards. This emphasizes the need for increased control by the relevant authorities to protect consumers from fraud.
