According to inkorr.com: In August of this year, Ukraine ranked first 16 times for the average daily BASE price index on the electricity market for the next day (RDN).

According to the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity ENTSOE, Ukraine dominated this indicator among 26 European countries during the periods from 2 to 4, 6, 8 to 11, 13 to 14, 17 to 19, and also 29 to 31 August. The maximum BASE load electricity price index in Ukraine at the end of the month was 5,101.38 UAH/MWh, while in France it was the lowest - 908.55 UAH/MWh.

The BASE load electricity price index on Ukraine's RDN for 20 days in August 2025 was 5,409.89 UAH/MWh, which is 8.1% higher than the same period in July (5,005.05 UAH/MWh). This marked a continuation of rising prices during the second month.

Ukraine's leadership in the electricity market

In July of this year, Ukraine also ranked first in the BASE price index on the RDN among 27 European countries five times (18, 27-30 July), in June - six times (1, 7, 8, 10, 28, 29 June), and in May - 11 times (1-8, 11, 17, 25 May). In April, Ukraine led five times (16, 17, 27, 28, 29 April). In August, Italy became the leader for the BASE price index (1, 5, 7, 12, 15-16, 23-25, 27 August).

Future plans

According to the results of 2024, Ukraine ranked third among 27 European countries for the BASE index on the RDN, which amounted to 4,522.87 UAH/MWh at Central European Time (CET).

It was previously reported that Ukraine has great potential for wind energy development, but its realization is hindered by a lack of tax incentives. Wind turbine manufacturers in Ukraine meet only up to 10% of market needs, and their equipment is mainly used for their own projects.

The rise in electricity prices in Ukraine is noted against the backdrop of continuously changing market conditions in the region. In such circumstances, it is important to monitor trends and adapt to the challenges facing the Ukrainian energy system.
