New Border Requirements for Moldova

According to Novyny.live: Authorities have tightened documentation rules for vehicles crossing into Moldova, making a valid technical inspection certificate mandatory for entry. This measure aims to improve road safety and strengthen oversight of vehicle conditions at the border.

Drivers heading to Moldova must now present a specific set of documents. These include:

• a valid biometric or international passport,
• a driver’s license,
• the vehicle registration certificate,
• an international 'Green Card' insurance policy,
• a vignette (road toll sticker).

Travelers should also be aware of restrictions on what can be transported across the border. Prohibited items include:

• weapons and ammunition,
• narcotic substances,
• prescription medications without proper documentation,
• meat and dairy products,
• honey,
• seedlings and plants lacking the required permits.

Infrastructure Developments

Local authorities have also unveiled plans to construct a roughly 10-kilometer bypass road around Palanca, with an estimated cost of 10 to 20 billion Ukrainian hryvnias. Additionally, a video surveillance and automated traffic management system is slated for the Odesa–Reni highway, which is expected to enhance traffic control.

Another key project involves restoring the bridge over the Dniester Estuary in Zatoka, with completion targeted by the end of this year. Over 15 million hryvnias have been allocated for this work. These infrastructure upgrades are designed to improve regional connectivity and create smoother conditions for drivers crossing into Moldova.
