The National Anti-Corruption Bureau submitted proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the protection of state property during relocation from the front-line territories.
'NABU addressed the Cabinet with proposals that will help avoid the loss of expensive state property, particularly mining equipment in front-line areas. NABU and SAP's investigation into the case of a $500,000 bribe related to the transportation of mining equipment revealed a number of gaps in the regulation of relocation issues. This creates risks not only for property but also contributes to corruption schemes,' the Bureau noted.
NABU proposes the following measures to protect state assets:
- Assess the risks of property loss.
- Create registers of property that requires relocation.
- Prepare routes, schedules, and resources for transportation in advance.
- Simplify the transfer of relocated property between state enterprises.
- Improve legislation to determine sources of funding and allocate responsibility.
'These actions will help avoid losses due to hostilities or occupation. They will also prevent corruption schemes,' NABU emphasized.
