Unknown drones filmed the German missile defense Arrow 3 just before its launch.
According to ТСН: Unknown drones appeared over the German Arrow 3 missile defense system, intended to protect Europe from threats, including hypersonic ballistic missiles "Oreshnik", just two days before the system's operational launch.
The details of the incident only became known a few weeks later, on December 1. Bundeswehr military reported that the drones flew at an altitude of approximately 100 meters above the base. In response to the violation, a rapid response unit launched a combat drone to intercept them.
The German forces managed to visually identify at least one drone, but were unable to neutralize it before it left the territory. Military high-ranking officials believe that these drones were likely aimed at conducting reconnaissance to determine the position of the new Arrow-3 air defense and missile defense systems deployed in Germany.
The Arrow 3 system was procured under the "Sky Shield" initiative and is intended to ensure the protection of European airspace. It is a high-altitude interceptor missile developed by Israeli and American specialists to destroy ballistic missiles in space.
Recently, Germany adopted this system as part of large-scale efforts to enhance its defense capabilities against threats from long-range missiles. Following the incident, the German authorities have already initiated a criminal investigation.
According to preliminary reports, the drones over German territory may be related to cargo ships directly associated with Russia.
This incident highlights the vulnerability of new defense systems that are just beginning their operation. It may also indicate the growing activity of drones in the region, which will be an important aspect for the German military and their partners in ensuring security. The criminal investigation may yield new information about the sources of threats and help strengthen security measures in the future.
