Russia Plans Strikes on Major Cities: Ukraine Braces for an Even Tougher Winter Ahead.
Winter Looms Over Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: Moscow continues its campaign against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, causing widespread disruptions to electricity, heating, and water supplies. The upcoming winter is expected to be even more severe due to the threat of renewed large-scale attacks, particularly targeting cities with populations over one million. These assaults have been ongoing for years, and their impact is felt by residents across numerous Ukrainian urban centers.
Preparing for the Heating Season
Analysts predict that the enemy will focus its strikes on large metropolitan areas, including Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Dnipro. Serhiy Nahornyak warned:
“The enemy will most likely concentrate its attacks on million-plus cities to disrupt heating and electricity supplies.” — Serhiy Nahornyak
This highlights the gravity of the situation and the urgent need to brace for potential assaults.
In Odesa, preparations for the next heating season began immediately after the previous one ended. Local authorities are actively working on:
- installing block-modular boiler houses;
- upgrading equipment.
Oleksandr Filatov noted: “Odesa, like other cities, essentially started preparing for the heating season the day after the last one ended. We understand what is happening and do not expect the coming winter to be easier—we are preparing for the worst.”
The primary goal remains ensuring the energy independence of heating facilities. Oleksandr Filatov emphasized: “The key issue is making our heating facilities energy-independent and properly protected.”
Preparations for the heating season in Odesa are ongoing daily, and city officials assure that all work will be completed on time. “We will finish them on schedule and prepare the city for the next heating season,” Filatov added.
As a result, Ukrainian cities are actively gearing up for the coming winter, fully aware of the potential for new strikes on critical infrastructure. The situation remains tense, but local authorities are doing everything possible to ensure residents’ comfort and safety amid the war. These preparatory measures are vital for maintaining urban life and protecting inhabitants amid growing threats. Energy resource limitations could significantly impact daily life, making proper organization of heating and electricity systems a top priority for officials.
