Russia leaks negotiations with the USA: the Kremlin's goal is to disrupt the peace process

According to ТСН: The head of the analytical center 'Business Capital' Vadim Denisenko commented on the conversations between US special envoy Steve Vitkoff and Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, which were made public by the Russian side.

In his opinion, this 'leak' of information has a clear political aim — an attempt to disrupt the peace process.

He noted that the method of 'leak' looks quite primitive, as the Russians added another conversation of Ushakov with Kirill Dmitriev to 'mask' the original source.

Denisenko is convinced that the Kremlin is trying to create informational chaos and provoke a scandal in the USA. If Ukraine previously failed to achieve this, now the bet is placed on American politics.

He also mentioned that Moscow did not expect such a reaction from Trump. Putin is not interested in ending the war, as it means acknowledging that Russia is losing the opportunity to become the 'third pole of the world.'

To avoid this, the Kremlin needs a resonant scandal in the USA that would block the peace process. However, according to Denisenko, the current 'leak' may lead to the opposite effect: Trump is likely to expedite negotiations.

Factors hindering agreements

Denisenko identifies three main factors that are still delaying agreements:

  • territorial issues

  • security guarantees for Europe

  • Putin's reluctance to end the war

He emphasized that Trump spoke directly for the first time about guarantees for Europe, which may indicate a possibility of resolving this issue.

Two key barriers remain: territories and Putin's refusal for peace. If the Russian president tries to exit the process, Denisenko predicts a sharp increase in sanctions and an even deeper dependence of Russia on China.

Recall that the day before, a transcript of the conversation between Steve Vitkoff and Yuri Ushakov regarding the preparation of the American 'peace plan' was published. Another conversation was also made public — Ushakov with Kirill Dmitriev, in which the promotion of the Russian version of the document to the American administration was discussed.

Negotiations between the USA and Russia continue to provoke lively discussion in political circles. Currently, the results of these communications may have significant consequences for the peace process in the region, especially in the context of growing pressure from Ukraine's international partners. To understand events, it is important to monitor the further steps of both parties and the response of the global community to the outcomes of these negotiations.
