NBU stopped printing 100 and 200 hryvnia banknotes: what is happening.
NBU on new banknotes
According to inkorr.com: The National Bank of Ukraine unexpectedly announced that from 2024 it will no longer print new 100-hryvnia banknotes, and since the beginning of 2023, it has also stopped issuing 200-hryvnia notes. This decision is related to the reduction in cash issuance due to the conditions of war. However, despite this, the central bank has sufficient reserves and plans to introduce new banknotes with the slogan
“Glory to Ukraine!”.
Changes in the banknote printing process
The process of manufacturing banknotes at the National Bank is undergoing significant changes due to the war, but the regulator plans to provide the population with everything necessary in case of need.
This decision of the NBU indicates the adaptation of the financial system to the challenges brought by the war. Importantly, the bank maintains stocks of old banknotes, which will help preserve stability in the financial sector. The slogan “Glory to Ukraine!” on the new banknotes emphasizes the patriotic spirit of the nation in this difficult time.
