Gold Coins Priced at 75,000 Hryvnias Go on Sale from Ukraine’s Central Bank: What’s Available.
Commemorative Gold Coins Issued by the National Bank of Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: The National Bank of Ukraine is now offering commemorative gold coins for sale, with prices reaching tens of thousands of hryvnias. Three distinct coins are currently available: 'Archangel Michael,' 'Bosporan Kingdom,' and 'Chersonesus Taurica.' These precious metal pieces are aimed at both collectors and investors looking to acquire tangible assets.
The 'Archangel Michael' coin was minted in 2025 with a circulation of 3,500 units. It contains 7.78 grams of gold and carries a face value of 20 hryvnias, yet its selling price stands at 75,378 hryvnias. Meanwhile, the 'Bosporan Kingdom' and 'Chersonesus Taurica' coins are each priced at 246,603 hryvnias. Both of these were produced in 2009 and 2010, respectively, and each contains 31.1 grams of gold.
Limited Stock and Investment Appeal
As of March 19, 2026, warehouse inventories show only 200 to 300 units remaining for each coin type, highlighting their scarcity. In a separate monetary update, Ukraine has withdrawn from circulation all 1, 2, 5, and 10 hryvnia banknotes regardless of issue year. Currently, only coins in denominations of 10 and 50 kopiykas, as well as 1, 2, 5, and 10 hryvnias, are considered legal tender.
These commemorative coins from the National Bank of Ukraine may appeal not only to numismatists but also to individuals aiming to invest in precious metals. Buyers have the chance to add these unique items to their collections or use them as a store of value.
The issuance of commemorative coins is part of the National Bank of Ukraine’s broader strategy to foster interest in collecting and investing in precious metals. The limited mintage could drive heightened demand among collectors, which in turn may influence their market value on secondary markets. As a result, these investment opportunities could become attractive for those seeking ways to diversify their asset portfolios.
