Canelo-Crawford Fight on Netflix Viewed by 41 Million: Numbers Worse than Tyson's.
The Fight Between Crawford and Alvarez on Netflix
According to The Sun: Last weekend, Netflix attracted millions by showcasing the historic fight in the super middleweight division between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
However, this event did not become as popular as the first fight shown on the platform last November.
GettyA total of 41.1 million people watched Crawford finish Alvarez's dominance in the super middleweight division.
According to Netflix:
“The main event recorded an average audience (AMA) of 36.6 million live viewers from start to finish of the fight.”
“The viewing continued over the weekend, resulting in a total AMA of 41.4 million viewers, making it the most-watched men's boxing championship of this century.”
Although these numbers are impressive, they fall significantly short of the views for Mike Tyson's return to the ring against Jake Paul, which topped over 108 million viewers.
This fight also did not reach the 74 million views garnered by the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano matchup on the Tyson and Paul undercard.
Netflix reports that 20.3 million of the 36.6 million viewers who watched the fight live were from the United States.
The victory over Alvarez allowed Crawford to cement his name in boxing history as an undisputed champion in three weight classes.

After the fight, Crawford hinted at a possible retirement in his comments:
“I don’t know.”
He noted that he plans to discuss his future with his team and family:
“Maybe this was my last fight. This event highlights the significant interest in boxing and reveals how streaming platforms can impact the popularity of sporting events. Despite the viewership numbers not breaking records, the success of the Crawford and Alvarez fight indicates the growing popularity of boxing in today’s world.
Crawford, who has previously gained fame from his victories, now stands at a crossroads. His future in the sport may hinge on whether he chooses to continue his career or embark on a new chapter in his life.
