Nik Woltemade has become Newcastle's new record signing

According to The Sun: Nik Woltemade has become Newcastle's record signing as Alexander Isak's dream move to Liverpool nears its end.

The team paid £69 million for the German striker from Wolfsburg, marking the end of their long search for a new forward. He joined the club after the official end of his contract.

The club is now activating efforts to sign either Wolverhampton star Jørgen Strand Larsen or Brentford player Yoane Wissa before the transfer window closes, as Isak awaits his future.

Quotes from the new signing and the coach

Woltemade, who will become Eddie Howe's fifth new signing this summer and will wear number 27, shared his impressions:

“I am happy to be at this wonderful club. From the very first contact, I felt that the club really wanted me and has great plans for me. It is a big step in my life to leave Germany, but everyone has welcomed me very well, and I already feel at home here. I have a very good feeling after talking to the coach that this is the right place where I can find my best level.”

Eddie Howe added:

“We are delighted to have quickly secured the signing of Nik. He fits the profile we have been looking for to enhance our attacking options. He is strong in many aspects, has excellent technical skills, and has proven to be a real threat in one of the best leagues in Europe – but he also has plenty of room to grow.”

Newcastle plans to make an offer for Isak

Woltemade signed a contract until 2031, and it is not expected that he will be registered in time for the match against Leeds, but he might debut against Wolverhampton in two weeks.

The player, who has represented Germany twice, was the top scorer of this year's Under-21 European Championship, scoring six goals, although he lost to the England team in the final, which also featured new partner Tino Livramento.

Woltemade makes a significant move to the northwest of the country after one season at Stuttgart, whom he joined from Werder Bremen for free just a year ago. Last season, he scored 17 goals across all competitions, including a crucial goal in the DFB-Pokal final that Stuttgart won.

Woltemade plans to watch his new team's game at Elland Road today before joining the German national team for World Cup qualifying matches against Slovakia and Northern Ireland.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Liverpool is preparing to make a record offer for Isak in the coming days, as the club's hierarchy has approved a £130 million bid for the 25-year-old striker.

Newcastle has already rejected one offer of £110 million and refuses to sell until they find a replacement.

Isak, who refuses to play for Newcastle and trains alone, reiterated his desire to leave the club's management with the Saudi Arabian owners earlier this week.

He now hopes that Howe will be able to finalize a deal for Wissa or Strand Larsen to finally secure his exit.

Thus, the situation surrounding Newcastle and Isak remains tense as the club seeks to find a replacement for a player intent on changing teams. Meanwhile, the new record transfer provides the club with more attacking options, and observing this process continues to attract the attention of fans and experts.
