Fans' outrage over ticket distribution

According to The Sun: Fans of Newcastle United are extremely dissatisfied, as 45 tickets for the match against Barcelona were given to a private school located 184 miles away in Dundee.

The Newcastle team will play against the Spanish giants at St. James' Park next Thursday, kicking off their Champions League campaign.

Only a few thousand fans managed to purchase tickets for this popular match, as club members were the most active in trying to partake in the draw.

Becoming a member costs £37 for adults and £20 for children, and this is a necessary condition for purchasing tickets through the draw or sale in line.

Over 100,000 members were left disappointed as the last tickets sold out very quickly.

Fans' discontent turned into outrage when it was revealed that 45 tickets had been given to Dundee High School, an educational institution where tuition costs £20,606.40 per year.

This news was published by the school itself on its social media page, offering students a trip to the match along with an overnight stay for £295 per person.

“We have received numerous messages regarding the fact that the school in Dundee was given 45 tickets for the match against Barcelona. With >100k in the queue for ticket sales and numerous tickets on third-party sites for greatly inflated prices, we fully understand the ongoing dissatisfaction of our members and the wider fan base,” said representatives from the Newcastle United Supporters Trust.

UEFA also has its own ticket quotas, and its partners receive the right to a certain number of tickets for Champions League matches and other competitions.

Currently, Newcastle has not commented on the situation, but SunSport has learned that the source of the school's ticket acquisition is being investigated.

Newcastle will resume their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they play against Wolverhampton.

The ticket distribution situation has caused significant outrage among Newcastle fans, many of whom believe that the tickets should have gone to the team's actual supporters rather than private institutions. This highlights ongoing issues with ticket accessibility for major sporting events, where demand exceeds supply. Fans hope for a transparent investigation into this matter and a fair approach to ticket distribution in the future.
