Newcastle released a brief statement following Isak's exit from the club.

Alexander Isak, 25, previously played for Real Sociedad and is now training individually away from the team.

He was not on the pitch for Newcastle in the first three Premier League matches before the transfer was completed on the final day of the window.

Liverpool agreed on a record sum of £130 million with Newcastle at the end of Sunday.

The club completed the deal with documents that allowed the transfer after the window closed at 19:00 on Monday.

After signing the deal, Newcastle confirmed the information in a brief statement.

“Newcastle United can confirm the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a significant record transfer fee for Great Britain.

“The Swedish international joined the Magpies from Real Sociedad in 2022 and has made 109 appearances across all competitions.”

Newcastle decided to sell after they signed striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.
