Germany offers Ukraine security guarantees similar to NATO membership: details.
According to inkorr.com: The German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul suggested providing Ukraine with security guarantees that may be similar to NATO membership. He noted that this is important for maintaining the territorial integrity of the country and hopes it will convince Russian President Vladimir Putin. The minister urged Russia to engage in peaceful negotiations with Ukraine and to avoid violence, emphasizing the importance of avoiding a 'dictatorial peace' that only harms the Ukrainian people.
'We cannot expect serious territorial concessions from Ukraine if it does not receive at least real security guarantees from as many countries as possible that will ensure that at least the rest (of Ukraine's territory - Ed.) will be safe,' emphasized the German minister.
Minister Wadephul also warned that any violation of security guarantees would be considered an attack on Ukraine and called on the Russian Federation to halt aggressive actions. Approximately 30 countries, including the United States and Japan, are ready to participate in the process of providing security guarantees.
Strengthening Ukraine's position in a heightened situation
Providing security guarantees to Ukraine from a number of states may help strengthen its position in the context of a heightened situation in the east of the country and help ensure territorial integrity. This step could be crucial in guaranteeing peace and stability in the region, as well as in preventing further escalation of the conflict.
