Germany Reduces Financial Aid to Ukrainian Refugees: What Will Change from April.
According to inkorr.com: The German government plans to amend the financial support for Ukrainian refugees arriving in the country from April. According to the new draft law, they will receive less financial aid and limited health insurance, which has sparked controversy among newcomers and the government.
Changes in Financial Support for Ukrainian Refugees in Germany
The German government is considering a draft law that provides for a reduction of financial aid for Ukrainian refugees arriving from April 1. According to the new conditions, payments will be reduced by approximately 100 euros, and health insurance will also be limited, as reported by DW.
Disputes Over Financial Aid
Currently, Ukrainian refugees receive Bürgergeld of 563 euros per person, which corresponds to payments for unemployed Germans. However, under the new conditions, newcomers will receive assistance at the level of other asylum seekers, which is 100 euros less.
Restrictions on Health Insurance
New rules also introduce restrictions on health insurance for newly arrived refugees. According to information from consultation centers in Berlin, Ukrainians will only have access to medical services in emergencies, during pregnancy, and for vaccinations.
Changes in financial support for Ukrainian refugees in Germany may significantly affect their material situation and access to medical care. The new restrictions are causing outrage among Ukrainians and indicate a change in the conditions in which they find themselves compared to German citizens. Such steps may impact the overall situation with the integration of Ukrainians into German society, creating new challenges for both parties during this difficult time.
