Opportunity to prove his ability

The 22-year-old Anderson received his first call-up to the national team from coach Thomas Tuchel for tonight's match, as well as for the game against Serbia scheduled for Tuesday.

According to BBC reports, Tuchel plans to give Anderson the chance to showcase his abilities in the context of preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

Sources also indicate that the former England U21 player will join the new midfield lineup under the German coach.

  • Anderson could play alongside Arsenal stars Declan Rice and Eberechi Eze.
  • In central defense, sources claim that Dan Burn from Newcastle and Crystal Palace captain Marc Guéhi will feature.
  • On the defensive flanks, Chelsea right-back Reece James and Arsenal left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly will play.
  • Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, who recently transferred to Barcelona, will come forward of James, while Lewis-Skelly will play alongside his new Arsenal teammate Noni Madueke on the left.
  • England captain Harry Kane is expected to lead Tuchel's attack.

If Tuchel uses the mentioned lineup, it means that Anderson will not play with his Forest teammate Morgan Gibbs-White.

Choice in favor of England

Anderson chose to play for the England national team, despite having the option to represent Scotland.

He has Scottish roots through his grandmother, who was born in Glasgow, and played for Scotland's youth teams from 2018 to 2022.

Anderson, who was born in Whitley Bay, was an ambassador to the youth and U21 national teams.

In 2023, he received a call-up to the Scotland national team from coach Steve Clarke, but withdrew from the squad before the match. Despite his injury, speculation arose that he still hesitated about his international choice.

Only a year later, he received his first call-up to the England U21 national team and became a regular player, earning 12 caps.
