New biometric system at the border with Poland: delays expected.
According to inkorr.com: The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has warned citizens about possible delays at the border with Poland. This is due to the testing of a new biometric control system at some checkpoints, which may slow down the control process for travelers.
According to the information from Ukrainian border guards, as of 16:19, the situation with queues at the checkpoints in the Lviv region looks like this: 'Shehyni' – 150 cars; 'Krakovets' – 20 cars; 'Nyzankovychy' – 10 cars; 'Smilnitsya', 'Ugryiniv', 'Hrushiv' and 'Rava-Ruska' are operating without delays.
Testing of the new biometric system
'At some checkpoints, Polish border guards have begun testing a new biometric control system. It involves scanning faces and fingerprints both upon entry and exit from Ukraine. Due to the additional processing procedures, it may take slightly longer,' the State Border Guard Service noted.
Moreover, at the 'Shehyni' crossing on the Ukrainian side, repair work is ongoing, which reduces the capacity for passenger and freight vehicles. Earlier reports indicated that Ukrainians in Poland are awaiting monthly checks.
The State Border Guard Service advises planning trips in advance, taking into account possible complications and delays at the checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
Such changes may affect numerous travels, especially during peak load periods when many people head to Poland for vacation or business visits. Preparedness and well-planned routes can help avoid inconveniences and make the journey more comfortable.
