According to inkorr.com: According to information coming from the European Union, the European Union is introducing a new digital border control system that will replace the usual stamps in passports. This system, which will come into effect on October 12, 2025, will be mandatory for all citizens of countries that are not EU members, including Ukrainians.

 

Main changes:

  • The system is being implemented for tourist and business trips lasting up to 90 days within six months.
  • Instead of physical marks in the documents, all information will be stored in electronic format.
  • The database will include: a photo of the person, fingerprints (for individuals over 12 years), passport data, as well as information about the time and place of crossing the border and data on entry bans.

Procedure:

  • Travelers will need to leave their vehicle to provide biometric data.
  • For trains, the procedure may vary depending on the specific border crossing point.
  • Refusal to provide biometric data will mean a ban on entry to the EU.

Objectives of the innovation:

  • Tracking compliance with stay durations in the European Union territory.
  • Combatting the use of counterfeit documents.
  • Enhancing security in the Schengen area.
